This unit has been exciting and challenging, I've learnt to be independent, self critical but trusting of my opinions in my work. My time management has improved 100% since my foundation last year, my confidence has also grown tremendously. I have spent a lot of my free time going around to visit art galleries, museums, shows, markets and charity shops by choice looking for inspiration for my projects & thinking ahead about what might be useful later on in the course. I have started taking photographs of EVERYTHING I see or do to keep a visual record which is something that I found difficult last year. I've also started keeping a notebook at all times and am writing about everything even if it doesn't seem too important at the time.
The Rough guide project was somewhat challenging for the first few days as it was the first time I had been given a brief and just left to do whatever I feel I wanted to- in the foundation we would be told what we are expected to come back with which was quite restricted in a way so although I was excited about doing my first project it was scary. I spent the first day thinking that the work I had produced was wrong because it was different to other peoples.
The Blog is something that I had never done before this course and I never thought it would be something that I would enjoy doing either, but as soon as I started writing the first entry I got slightly addicted to it and havn't stopped posting since, I think its because its a way of translating my ideas verbally as well as visually in a quick and easy way. I personally think the balance between imagery and writing on my blog is as it should be, maybe some of the first few entries could have more writing in them- particularly the entries about our lectures. I've tried my best to keep it clear, exciting as well as informative. I've used a simple layout with one of my Print CAD designs in the background. To view the whole of my entry the 'read more' button should be clicked. I've also tried not to write too informally and keep it easy to read.
