Even MORE Inspiration

Transition
Wednesday 15th February
Iris Van Herpen
Today was mine & Vanessa's first tutorial with our fashion tutor Claire- I showed her all of my photographs from The Natural History Museum, as well as artist inspiration and photocopies from Architectural books in our Library. She said I had a lot of research and we had some good ideas but wasn't sure about my idea to use wire in my garment & suggested starch instead. We've got to have an over all mood board for the project and a full sketch book of drawings and inspiration for next week to start development.

Sculpture! Designer Iris Van Herpen  - collection called Crystallization which looks a lot like the work im doing at the moment for my Transition project on rocks, minerals & crystals.

Jólan Van Der Wiel- Interiors designer- Creator of the Gravity Stool 2011
'Departing from the idea that everything is influenced by gravitation, a force that has a strongly shaping effect, I intended to manipulate this natural phenomenon by exploiting its own power: magnetism. The positioning of the magnetic fields in the machine, opposing eachother, has largely determined the final shape of the Gravity Stool.'

Katja Bjerrum- Textural Ceramics
I also found an interesting chair designer that uses a lot of structure in his work - Markus Johansson -  Nest Chair

Nina Bruun- Interiors chair designer- Inspired by nature- bird’s nest
