Here are some photographs of my garment in production. To begin with I used modelling mesh to form spikes by cutting out triangles in different sizes and curling them into a point, the next thing I did was create to shoulder pad structures (also using modelling mesh) I used my knee to create the curved shape and then curled the rigid mesh into itself so it doesn't cut anyone. then I balanced the spikes on the shoulder to see how it would look. The next thing I did was to cover the shoulder pieces in the fabric I painted, sewing it on by hand. When this was all done I moved on to my headpiece and created the head shape my pushing the mesh around my models head trying to get the correct shape, I then created four spikes for the headpiece (two larger and two small). Next, I moved on to the latex leggings, I used a flat surface, placing a plastic sheet over, using the measurements of my model's through, leg length, calf and ankle I used Plasticine to crate the shape and poured the latex into the area x2. I then used ink to create the colour and pattern that i wanted, i also added beads and wire to the latex and left to dry.
after the latex was dry i used an eyelet kit to hammer in the eyelets and laced them up using ribbon. i then sewed the spikes onto the covered shoulders and then used the sewing machine to create triangles to then sew over the spikes. i then painted each shoulder in the graduated colour that i have been working with throughout my project. and repeated this for the headpiece. Next, I added all of my latex, beads and wax which i used in my sampling.
I was extremely annoyed after doing this because the colours sort of dripped into each-other and went a horrible colour that i didn't expect to happen when the latex went on.
the final step to completion was creating a very basic jacket using 3 pattern pieces (back, side and other side). i then painted this the colours of my project and hand-stitched the shoulder pieces on to it.
